Subject: FAQ

Dear all

I hope no-one will think I'm being overly arrogant in doing this, but due to a general lack of consensus on the issue, I've decided to put a fledgling Mellotron FAQ on my site, preferably before Mattias blows a gasket. I'll stress that it isn't definitive, and I'm not trying to set myself up as some sort of expert (I haven't forgotten being under the impression that Tony Banks had cellos on his M400...), but it seems that it would be of some use, especially to new list members. The umpteenth 'Watcher intro' debate has finally pushed me over the edge. :-)  I realise that most (all?) of this information can be found elsewhere on the 'Net, but it seems sensible to put it all in the same place. Of course, if people feel this would be better placed on the group's Yahoo! site, maybe this can be arranged?

It'd be nice if everyone who has an opinion on the subject could contribute (credited, of course), so I propose an initial list of subjects:

Mellotron/Chamberlin models, including dates of manufacture and descriptions
Sounds on the above, both fixed and changeable (ancient and modern)
Links to sites containing maintenance tips (Norm, Ken, Jerry etc.) and other major 'Tron sites
Popular misconceptions (tape loops, studio 'Stairway' etc.)
'Watcher' intro (sorry)

Probably loads more.

Anyway, please let me know how you all feel about this, and if it's generally felt to be a good idea, I'll start collating information.
