OK, Jon - as a cheaper alternative, wotabout a standalone module with said
controls along the front, with standard MIDI access? Mount it above a
weighted 88-note 'mother', and away you go. You could even (just about) make
it 19".

The instrument is a sample-

Basically, a dedicated, high-end sample player, although without a
'humaniser' of some sort, you'd still get the 'sample' problem of each note
sounding the same every time, and quirks ironed out. Nice idea, though I'll
still go for my '3 sounds at a time' M400!
