Especially since $4k was worth a whole lot more back then.Anyone have an idea what that would equal in today's dollars?   Jim#917

Hello Jim andeveryone,

You were verylucky to buy your Tron during the "slump"
period . PierreVeilleux from Montreal assembled his
large collectionof M400's in the '80s for $150-200 each.

Buying an M400in 1973 did cost between $3500-4000
from Dallas Arbiteror their distributors.  I saved about
half  thatamount in 1973 , choosing to purchase mine
from London andhaving it shipped air-cargo .

Air Cargo thenwas $160 and the M400 (new) was
 700 GBPthen ($1680 ; approx. $2.40 each Pound) .
With today'svalues,  you can prob multiply by  3-4X
conservatively.

Another comparison.Peter Nichols of Mellotronics
contacted mein 1975 and offered to sell a factory
refurbished MellotronMusic Console (SFX w. lead tapes)
for 2000 GBPthen .  Taking into account today
inflation,exchangerates ,etc . Streetly's current price
for restoredMK-II  is about spot-on.

Hope this helps......JerryK. (worth less in the future)
