Just one comment about the state of the original molds for the plastic parts for the 400 - should there be any doubts in the quality of the parts we are making.

 

They were brought to Sweden by me shortly after the demise of the company that were manufacturing the parts. This was no problem since the molds belonged to the inventory bought by Dave. I always had to get a written permission from Dave to have parts made (a mere formality), how other people got their parts made is a totally different issue, but now lies in the past.

 

When I first took them to a Swedish plastic company I was naturally worried about how much life that was still in them. But it turned out that they had seen little use compared to the life span these molds were made for (normal production series of nylon parts are in excess of 100 000). They only needed to be adapted for the Swedish machines, and after that they have been producing parts with higher quality then before due to the computer controlled machines used here in Sweden.

 

Btw, a place where more than 50 Mellotrons have been produced qualifies as a factory in my view :)
