Well, for those that can't afford a real 'Tronyet--like your truly, I would suggest checking the following websites:

The first one that gave me the OMG! reactionwas the 'String Box' collection from the folks of 'Sonic Implants',located 'Here'.
Listen to the Mellotron Demo, and it nearly brings tears to youreyes... :) Now, the neat thing is if you have a Creative LabsSound Blaster Live! series card for your 'puter, you may or may notknow that along with the card and the MIDI software that comes alongwith it (Most likely 'Cakewalk lite', but you still have 256 'voices'availableto you. :)  ), along with this is something called 'Sound Fonts'-whichis what the 'String Box' set is.
Just load these things onto the'puter, and your all set to go! The good thing is that for about$60.00, you have the infamous Mellotron flute, 8 voice choir, and threestring settings from the Mark II, Mark III, and the classic Mark 400series. You hear a quick bit of all of them on the demo....imaginehaving that same sound coming of the 'puter speakers.... :D

Now, if you are using the VST-type plug-in's, there are some folks fromthe UK that you can look up for 'Tron samples, they are called theM-Tron plug-in's, and they can be found 'Here'for an overview. I also like the way the interface looks also. Verysimilar to the control panel and keyboard of a real 'Tron, right downto the drink rings and cigarette burns on the top panel. :)

Also, take a look at just how they got these samples done, and the amountof sounds available....At the present there are two volumes out now. VolumeOne Here, and VolumeTwo Here. They are coming out with a Volume Three sometime soon. Outside of MikePinder who used to be the original keyboard player for the Moodies, thisis looking to be the most extensive sounds of the 'Tron, and Chamberlinaround.

And as far as I can make out, the volumes themselves cost about $50.00each. :)

Just the Mike Pinder's Mellotron CD-ROM at the Mellotron website costs$250.00.....anyway, the US address for the 'M-Tron' software can befound below....
