Ah yes, one of my favorite Harvest releases...right up there with
Ummagumma and See See The Sun. If it's your intro to Ayers, I'd
follow up with 1) Whatevershebringswesing and 2) Bananamour. It's
been awhile since I heard those first two Soft Machine albums too--I
ought to dig 'em up as it's been a couple decades since I heard
them. Ayers certainly is a cut & dry kinda guy with sort of a Zevon
meets Snakefinger outlook and wit. I wish he was still releasing
solo albums with the variety he displayed in those early days. "Girl
On A Swing" in particular had some great oblique 'Tron. I'd always
thought Ayers and bandmate Robert Wyatt should do a album as a duo.
A couple of snoots on kind of a left o'center wavelength. I bet
Wyatt would snow Ayers just like he did on Nick Mason's Fictitious
Sports.
