Hi gang!

I'm one of the newer persons here that is also a 'Troniac ever since figuring out what that weird/pleasant sound was on the Moody Blues
'On The Threshold Of A Dream' album.... :D

Anyway, I've always wanted to own one of those things, but budget and 'personal problems' have always kept that idea at arms length-until 'puters and MIDI came along. :)

Well, on to my comment that was brought up awhile back about 'Tron samples....

Not  to mention the fact that it will set you back $200.00 or so...plus whatever the AKAI Sampler willrun you.... :|

Actually no, I haven't...seeing as though I have one of the older Creative Labs 'Sound Blaster Live!' series cards right now, and have an 'Audigy' 6.1 sound card waiting in the wings when I upgrade my system sometime later this year, and throw in the 'ProdiKeys' controller. :)

And I'm kind of new to this newer VST standard. I've heard of it, but don't know much about it. Is it another yet sampling system?

The one CD-ROM that I'm interested at the moment when it comes to 'Tronsamples is the 'String Boxes' CD for the Sound Blaster Live!
(Using the Sound Font Standard) and above family of sound cards, that ismade by a company called 'Sonic Implants'. You can find them at:  http://www.sonicimplants.com/Products/vintageimplants.htm, then do yourself a favor and download the MP-3 file Mellotron Demo #1.
After I picked myself off the floor, let me say that for around $70.00 orso for some of the basic 'Tron sounds, it's a great investment. These obviouslymust have come from Dave Kean's 'Tron Archives, because It's ∗Exactly∗ whatI figured the 'Tron should sound like to my ears. :)

Another one that I've seen online is 'Prime Sounds' at:http://www.primesounds.com/prime2/samples/series.jhtml?seriesId=37

This is available thru downloads if you have an account with them (not too pricey per sample), and if you havea bit of software called HALion program files (Very Pricey), that can supposedlydecode them. I'm going to ask if the downloadable files there are S.B. Compatibleor not...
