Indeed there is a resurgence of prog-tinged material w/doses
of 'Tron & other analog and vintage kybds popping up in the mix here
and there--thanks to folks like Streetly and Kean who keep these
units alive and others who do their best with duct tape and
carpenter's glue...

They range from South to FCS North to Oh My God to Mars Volta and
even pop up on mainstream material like Macy Gray and Coldplay
albums, but by and large they appear on indie labels and many times
are only limited regional releases, so serious stoneturning is in
order. I come across these gems all the time...after all, prog is
not music just slapped together in a fortnight, and more and more
people are grappling with its sophistication and the challenge to
keep it alive.

Music that stands up to repeated listenings through the years tends
to be prog in my book. The early stuff may sound dinosauric and
topheavy, but indeed refreshingly dated! Take the Proto-Kaw stuff
and bump it up against Il Balletto Di Bronzo's "Ys"...what a roller
coaster...
