Hi Gene:
I have changed tapes in my Chamberlins and yes they are a major pain. Be real careful with any plastic bits (if you have them) as they'll break easily and of course there are even fewer sources for replacement parts. So far I've been fortunate.

Chamberlin M1 let me know and I'll share. I've got them now on "indefinite
loan" from a friend and am in the process of rebuilding.
Anybody ever change tapes on an M1? There are rivets holding them in. Yuk.
