Subject: RE: [Mellotronists]  Birotron/Orchestro\tn CDROM?

Oh yes! Perfect. That looks nice. That definitely did not show up on my
google search.

Uh oh, it's Akai... popular format yes, but a real pain to load into my
Roland. Innit always sumthin' with all this machinery?

Re: orchestron disk wear, don't they sit on a bed of felt as they spin?
Optically accessed yes, but still spinning on something material... you'd
think they would at least "fog up" after hours and hours of being powered
up.

But then again, the scrapes and scratches could be part of the "charm", eh?

Hey maybe if you did have the master transparencies for the disks, you could
make some "expendable" copies, and lay them down in the street, and jump up
and down on them a bit, and then play them to get that kewl retro scratched
record sound out of your Orchestron!?!?

Best Regards,

- Gene

Go to optigan.com. Pea Hix sells a cd rom in Akai format (ChickenSys'
Translator program can convert it to another format if you need it) that
features all the sounds of the Optigan, Orchestron and Talentmaker. The
disks are optically read so there is really no wear, although they sound
quite "charming" right out of the box. i bought an optigan and its a piece
of crap.
