Subject: I'm the new guy...

Hey guys. I'm picking up #854 this Saturday somewhere in Bowling Green. I'm driving down from Chicago and meeting a fellow from Atlanta. Just a couple questions:
1. What's a Mellotron? (I couldn't resist that one.)
2. Will my marriage survive the strain of ownership and the whine of the CMC-10 motor control card?
3. Am I freakin' nuts?
About me. I've had it bad for the 'tron since hearing Rick Wakeman's Hallelujah chorus on Yessongs when I was 13 (I'm 38). It took me years to figure out what made that sound. I'm a glutton for punishment as I also have 2 British cars (a pair of '74 Triumph Spitfires). I'm familiar with British engineering or lack thereof.
Supposedly, the M400 I'm buying (3 violins/flute/bassoon) works but needs TLC. At some point it was painted with a brush. Has the whine. Probably original tapes. I'm sure I've bitten off more than I can chew so anyone out there in the Chicago area (western 'burbs) feel free to come buy and lend your expertise. I'll welcome a hug, but will understand if all I get is a whack upside the head and a, "What the h∗#l were you thinking?"
I'm also open to any other good resources and forums or websites for advice, parts, and friendly chit-chat about Mellotrons. Don't be shy, experts. I need you.
