Subject: Re: [Mellotronists] my turn

Hi, all-

Grinding discussion, good thoughts. I might
interject this idea: There is another level to
lyrics. No matter how good (or bad) the lyric may be,
a vocalist still has to interpret them. And, the
audience has to accept the interpretation. "A Day in
the Life" could never have been sung by Sinatra. Nor
"My Way" by John Lennon or Jon Anderson (okay, a nod
to Sid Vicious).

As weird as some of the Yes lyrics are, I can't think
of anyone else who has tried to sing their songs
(cover bands notwithstanding). They are their own
element (and I like it fine).

Speaking of lyrics & vocals, only T. Boone Burnett
could've combined Alison Krauss and Robert Plant, and
produce an album (Raising Sand). Good stuff, IMHO.
Patrick Warren plays keys on one cut.
