Artwork courtesy of the late, great, Chesley Bonestell, who did more than almost anyone else in the twentieth century to popularize space exploration. He also contributed his unique artistic skills to great motion pictures like "When Worlds Collide" and "Destination Moon" as well as having his images appropriated by planetaria all over the world. The rest was from either the Hubble Space Telescopes Wide-Field and Planetary Camera and the Mt. Palomar Observatory. The book was "The Conquest of Space."
The images:I recognize them from the same book which coincidently I had at age six (back when we were all sure we were going to live and work on the moon -hardy har har).
