mellotron based and nice to have in the collection, but am I the only
one on this list?who thinks that they're aural fecal matter?from start
to finish (including the abysmal The Pillory)?
Haven't heard Neptune, but I'll be the first to agree that
Froese/Tangerine Dream is not everyone's cup of tea. I enjoy the
"dry" EM stuff like "Epsilon", Node's "Node", and T Dream's "Rubycon".
Keep in mind that Froese "Tangentized" Epsilon---he added synth
noodlings to it using non-period synths and then re-released it, and
the original is no longer available. I haven't heard the results of
the noodlings, but I can only imagine. I don't know which version of
"Epsilon" you got, but you should check out the original if you can
dig it up. The original is nearly entirely Mellotron with some
synth/sequencer stuff (from period synths) thrown in here and there.
Dry, sparse, moody. But, perhaps, it'd still be "aural fecal matter"
in your mind---who knows.
My complaints are that "Epsilon" is too short, and it's the only album
like it I know. You may consider those to be a good things. :-)
