With all due respect and admiration for the guys at Streetly.... there's a rumor that Markus
and Dave Kean could be quietly working on their own new machine as well. It's too bad the
brains can't "join forces".
It's not a competition!
At the end of the day it depends what you want from your tron, and how much you feel you can afford to pay for the honour of owning one.
The problem with pre m400 Mellotrons were I thought their sheer size and weight. The m400 was a gigging musicians dream come true. The problem was still a reliability issue. (though I would dispute that for a well maintained machine). BUT, surely the main limitation was only having the 3 voices available.
How cool will it be to have all of our favourite sounds available at the touch of a button? With cycling technology, properly implemented, all contained in a unit that looks little bigger than a standard m400. Fab!
Add into the above cocktail the heritage of Streetly, I know where my money would go if I were able to afford one.
I know for a fact that the reason this machine has been a long time coming, is that JB and Martin have been slaving away doing everything they can to create the perfect tron, both in terms of design and functionality.
I can't wait to see and hear it working. Good luck boys.
From where I'm standing I see a perfect analogue keyboard in a less than perfect digital age. (How's that for a slogan Martin?)
