Hi all-
The suggestions for the headblock-related hum
worked. Thanks to everyone who contributed ideas,
they were all helpful.
When I bought this 'tron it was missing the RH
headblock roller pin(how can you lose that?!?!).
Headblock was riding partly on the channel tops, so,
of course, it hummmmmmed. The LH roller pin LOOKED
like metal, so I created one from a 4 mm stud,
threaded one end, and put it in place. Added a nut &
locked it to proper spacing. It worked, but it still
hummed, mostly for tracks A & C. Sent out email.
Removed the headblock to figure this out. Found
the existing roller pin is plastic. Eureka!! I
insulated the pin I made with heatshrink and 2 nylon
washers. Definitely not a permanent solution. No hum
now, no motor noise, problem solved. Polished &
cleaned the heads. It sounds MUCH better now,
possibly louder. Need new roller pin, I guess.
Thanks again
