Subject: [Mellotronists] Rick Wakeman

All the best, indeed, to Rick Wakeman, for his birthday! First time I ever saw Mellotrons live were in Pittsburgh PA, when he toured with Yes after the "Fragile" album came out. Almost broke my jaw as it hit the floor... and that was just when a roadie came out and hit a couple notes to test one! Then Rick's performance, as well as the whole band, and subsequent ones - many of 'em with and without Yes, were ones I'll not forget, largely due to the "majesty" of those Mellotrons! And for one who displayed such true virtuosity & wizardry (in more than appearance!) on keyboards, it was great to see his wicked sense of humor as well. I'm sure I'm FAR from being alone in crediting Rick's serious influence on how MANY of us have played Mellotrons and ALL other keyboards since. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the best of the best! Glad to see a new album out, too! Congratulations, and MANY happy returns to Rick Wakeman!
