I always thought the 4 Track was a step in the rightdirection, with the multichannel heads____________________________________________________________
and individual outs etc. It would be cool to see someone do a machinelike the J-Tron
appeared to be, merging thebest of Chamberlin and Mellotron technologiestogether 8 or
16 track heads, wider tape...
Could the 4 Track innards be placed in a wooden cabinet? Thatwould be a nice
instrument and I'm sure quieter than the dangerous Maytag.
- Thanksfor the detailed report from SD, FS #1. ClosestI've
- been tothe 4-Track since Bob Kinney nervously permitted me
- to inspect/playthe powder-blue unit at Bomar in 1981.
- To addto Char-El's comments, the 4-Track was conceived by
- Bill Eberlineduring the final days of Sound Sales. It was to be
- originallya retrofit inside a std. M400 cabinet . Great idea !
- The dangerousMaytag concept (helluva concept!)
- was BobKinney's idea, in all certainty.
- Last timeI personally hung with Bill/Nancy Eberline in their
- CornwallCT home in 1980, I presented Bill a miniature 4-Track
- model(in wood) to him. A duplicate still stands atop my Tron
- at theM-Ranch. See attached photo.
- Last timeI drove thru that portion of CT along I-84, Bomar's
- locationis now called "Martin's Aluminum Gutters and Doors."
- Bettersales potential than the four 4-Tracks mfgd. there in '81-'83.
