I met Robert Fripp in Montreal in 1973. He was on his way into the CHOM studios with Ian Wallace and PeterSinfield. I stopped to ask him about the mellotrons he'd used the eveningbefore in a concert I attended (not having seen a 400 in the flesh before). Heoffered to sell me one of the two MkIIs he had for $3000. He even offered tobring it over next time they toured if I would wait that long. Being inuniversity and basically broke, I couldn't take him up on the offer.
I should have. Streetly has restored one of the two and it now worksperfectly -- according to Martin (but you can't really trust him now, can you?
