I regularly make 2-sided, not a problem at all.
The lower roller is rubber which you can use strategically, for example if
you want to make component legend over copper the flexibility presses the
toner in between the copper.

I disagree that a laminator is better. They are neither built for the high
thermal mass, nor temperature, nor have the right speed. Also, they are
not free. A fuser is made for fusing toner already.
Nobody is going to convince me any time soon to buy a flimsy laminator
only to hack it up in order to make it somewhat useable.
