Hi,
I've tracked down some photo paper that seems to work quite well for toner
transfer. It's Staples own-brand 130gsm "Inkjet GLOSS paper, bright white".
20 A4 (210x297 mm) sheets sell for around £6. The UPC code is
3-141720-153458, and the Staples SKU code is 361690. It comes in a plastic
pack with a resealable opening on the bottom. The label is yellow with red
text.
Transfer was perfect - approximately 60 seconds of heating (as per Tom
Gootee's method) with the iron set to maximum, followed by a dunk in hot
water with a little Fairy washing-up liquid added to speed up the
soaking process. I used a Panasonic KX-P7110 laser printer set to maximum
density, Toner Saver off, manual feed and set it for a straight paper path
(basically opened the feed door on the back of the case). I used Protel
Autotrax to design the board, LASER-PC to produce a PostScript file, and
GhostScript/GSview to print said PS file.
The only problem is getting all the gunk out from between the tracks - I
think I need to find a stiffer toothbrush to clean the board with. A red
(very important - the other colours aren't etch resistant) Staedtler
Lumocolor permanent marker is perfect for touching up damaged resist before
etching.
Later.
