I am having a hard time finding suitable paper here in Jakarta that works like the successes that I've read about for the TT method, But I did find a paper that gave reasonable results ... if I could eat or break down the paper I think that it would be ok.
The paper from Staples seem's to be the go for TT,
asking the shop staff for clay coated paper you get the screen saver look.... with a :o
I'll give the Sodium Hydroxide a run.....

sodium hydroxide, lye, will break down the lignen (iirc) in paper. Of
course that's the opposite of an acid so it doesn't meet the strict
definition of your request. I suspect you are using the term acid a
bit loosely. Lye is used for paper production and is the also the
main ingredient in drano. I believe it doesn't attack copper.
But but but, please be very careful with lye. Not only does it work
on paper, it does an even nastier job on flesh. This stuff is far
nastier than any of the etchants we use.
