Depends on what you want to do mechanically.
(I think you have some experience there...)
You will want some sort of motor drive for the fuser.
(although it works fine to directly turn it slowly by hand.).

I have set up the original motor, with heavy gearing...
Until now i was to lazy to build the enclosure for the PSU and motor
controller, so i am still turning the motor by hand (crank).....


If with your fuser the lamp is dead it is a bad thing.
But if only the teflon has a few scratches i assume it does not matter
in this application.
