Yes, there is white too.
I have the impression the white stuff is much more brittle, with much more
solid component,
while the dark brown stuff seems to contain more resin.
Especially the "1 layer of glass on each side and paper between" seems to
be the white
kind while the older material is more often brown.
Have taken apart a lot of TVs etc. with light colored phenolic.

Don't worry, you would have noticed if it were teflon ;-)
