I've seen a few which even i would trust.
they are thinner pins, with lower pitch (maybe 2mm).
they look the same, square pins and all.
I think they are kind of standard like the 2,54mm pitch headers...

smaller connectors need smaller force to pull off, so smd seems fine...

there are also very nice connectors for the etched cables, they will open
and release
the cable if you pull upwards.
