Subject: Dyeing and stamping PCBs

Hey guys,

You’ll recall in a previous thread I was asking bout dyeing PCBs.  I’ve since watched some videos on the subject and am confient I can do it.  However, I’m wondering if any of you have done this before, and if so, if you have any ideas on how to get closer to the color I desire.

I attach this photo showing my reproduction SWTPC TVT board next to an original Mark-8 board.  The Mark-8 board has the green hue I’m after.

They’re not that far off, actually.  If I had to guess, I’d say I need a bit more blue to get the repro board closer?  But from watching videos it looks like black and purple and other colors are also sometimes used in ways you might not expect.  So I’m wondering what you guys think and what color you’d recommend trying first.

I’m also looking to reproduce the substrate manufacturer marks.  I know most custom stamp makers can take an image and create a stamp from it.  Have any of you ever done that?  I just want to get the visual on the TVT replica I’m making as close to original look as I can.

Thanks!!

Brad
