Subject: Re: [Homebrew_PCBs] SMD package question

As a newbie to SMD soldering myself, I find two things are really useful:

1. Google "<footprint name> footprint".  So something like "SOIC-8 footprint" and you'll get the dimensions.

2. If you're more of a "visual" person, then just print it out.  Every PCB design software has the ability to print out your PCB at 1:1.  Just add the parts (no need to connect them to anything) and print it out (again, make sure it's 1:1).

Either one of these should allow you to figure out footprint is best for your personal needs

OOPS!
What I meant to say was the IC is available in
SOIC-8, SOP-8, and TSSOP-14.
Is one package easier to solder than the other two?
