I wonder the exact same things myself. I have seen plenty of pictures of drills in this style, but never any reviews of their performance.
FWIW, I've seen used Proxxon gear on the Amazon store for just a few dollars more and they even have free shipping. They might actually come out cheaper to your door and are a known quality product. Had I known this before I went down the road of trying use my Dremel, I think I would have gone that route in a heartbeat.
