Subject: Re: [Homebrew_PCBs] Which Drill stand for Proxxon FBS 115/E?

I use a homemade stand (pivoting design).
The drills break only due to operator error, runout is not a problem any more with the proxxon collets.

Actually I bought a 12V proxxon just for PCB drilling so I don't have to take the IB/E out of the stand for handheld work.
It struggles with 1/8th inch mounting holes, but the small ones are no problem.

I don't have either factory stand, but the MB 200 seems greatly superior.
The adjustable gib dovetail inspires confidence, while the 140 looks rather flimsy.
Although, apparently it can do the job (not sure if carbide drill):

For those who use the Proxxon Rotary tools for drilling PCBs.

I am going to purchase the Proxxon 115/E to drill PCBs but do not know which drill stand to buy with it.

There are two that I can see online, the MB 140/S and the MB 200.

Has anyone got experience with either or both of these stands?

If so, which would you recommend and why?

The reason I ask is that I have been using a Dremel rotary tool with collets and carbide bits and the bits are always breaking. As a result I have used flexible HSS bits to avoid the expensive breakage of carbide but it is hard on these drill bits and can blunt them easily on one board (100 holes approx.)

I measured the runout on the Dremel and it was about 4/1000ths of an inch on the main collet holder, but on the drill shank in the collet it was a whopping 15/1000 ths!  No wonder!

Therefore I need a better tool!

Any advice would be welcome.

Geoff.
