Hey Guys.
I understand that dear Phil has already flushed himself, so I'll address this to anyone in the group who might be wondering.
1. The ads on the site still just bairly cover my hosting colocation cost. I'm looking into going to a google compute site but I'm not sure the cost would be less and I know nada about LAMPS (always been a M$ man). The ad revenue has declined pretty steadily over the years (as Americans turn from making to buying, and "makers" buy more pre-made modules instead of actually building circuits and programming firmware themselves). If the trend continues, the site will have to move to something cheaper (read: slower, less capable) or shut down in about a year. And when I say "shut down" I mean taking it back so it's just my private dumping ground for things I think are neat. The only way out of that (that I see) is to add some content in areas that are of interest to more people. Or to add a lot of content in areas that are of interest to a few people. Or to sell more products that people like you develop and make. (I sell stepper motor drivers make by Roman in .au, Luc in .be, and I'm getting ready to release a motion controller made by Peter in .ca. Notice the lack of .us in there? What happened to .us?). Please let me know if you have ideas.
2. If I missed something in Volkans documentation, I am genuinly sorry about that. I'd LOVE it if someone would point out where the missing bit is so I can add it. But I've looked back through his posts here and I don't believe I did miss anything. There is a form on the bottom of every page where people can post a comment. So if you know something and want to share it, have at.
3. Sometimes I find it hard to see the world in a positive light, just like Phil. It's difficult to present a happy face to the world all the time. And it's easy to make negative assumptions about people. I don't blame Phil. One thing that has helped me is something my dad told me: "Never attribute to malice, that which can adequately
be explained by incompetence." ,o)
Best wishes.
