I dabbled with magazine paper, while it worked fine, the extra overhead of cutting it out and lining that bit up on an a4 sheet was much higher than using an a4 gloss sheet and soaking/rubbing it a little longer.

Just my 2c, I have full ream of gloss paper a previous employer did not need.

The print on the magazine pages is an oxygen curing ink that doesn't melt when heated. The toner from the laser printer is a pigmented plastic material that does melt with heat. Suggest you try a few magazine papers before going on the quest for the perfect paper. I quit trying to buy the perfect paper after trying magazine. ULine catalog, IIRC.
