Thanks for the feedback. I take it that the thin FR4 is etched with the
layout first before pressing. Otherwise the etchant would damage the core?

is same as for multilayer board

it use very thin FR-4 PCB (single or 2 side)
then it hot laminate it to aluminium plate whit a Prepreg
bethen pcb and the metal core

but for laminate it you need a hydraulic press capable of heating
to 230-250 deg Celsus so above glass transition point of FR-4

Prepreg sheet was aviable from lpkf or local pcb shop
it look like paper thin fibre glass fabric whit resin on it

as for press i personally use 2 1/2" thick aluminium plate
on on a metal frame 1" thick bolted together the 4 corner
and put it on kitchen over
for 60 minute then let it cold down for another 60 minute

for multilayer it same but you replace metal core whit 2 or more 2 layer
PCB each one separated by a Prepreg sheet

then drill and plate via
