I've been using the GBC H220 for a few months now and it works fine. Changing the two gears helps. I set the thickness for 5 mil. Also, you should ignore the "beep" that says it's ready and let the unit preheat for at least 20 minutes. I can get a good transfer using Pulsar paper with 2 passes doing this.
