Firstly my thanks to Steve for letting me into the group,
My name is John and I live in the East of England not far from the Plug Hole where ledgend has it the waters of the Western Fens drain out of. On and off over more years than I care to think of I have dabbled with bits and pieces often needing circuit boards to be made. Recently maybe over the past 5 or 6 years I have been playing with casting, home built CNC Routers and most recently have been constructing an electronically controlled dividing head. All of the recent projects in one way or another need a circuit board preparing so I have tried etching from simple boards layed out with press down tracks, milling using the router, toner transfer and beginning a UV exposure box.
A few days ago I remembered reading a post some years back on the CNCZone regarding hacking an ink jet printer to print directly on a fresh board and reading through the posts the name of this group came up so in order to find out more I applied to join and have been accepted. As I also play with home built steam locomotives to be able to etch out name plates or badges from brass will also benefit if I can hack a printer myself as using rub down letters takes ages to do although after etching does give acceptable results or satisfies my modest needs.
Obviously I have many questions and maybe a few ideas but in order not to make too big a fool of myself and ask questions answered many times before I will now go quiet and wade through as many of the old posts as possible plus of course the photos and files sections.
Sorry to have created a rather long saga which will have no doubt bored nearly everyone to tears.
John.
