I ran into the similar challanges with Free PCB and ViewMate on a
Laserjet 1022.
Get yourself a copy of Cute PDF Writer. It's free for noncommercial
use; the whole Cute PDF isn't. There's a free download about 1/4 of
the way down the WEB page.
href="http://www.cutepdf.com"
It loads as a virtual printer and outputs to a PDF file. When you are
ready to print the top, select "Cute PDF Writer" as your printer, go
to Properties,
select Advanced on the Layout tab, under Document Options->PostScript
Options select PostScript Output Option:Optimize for Portability
and Mirrored Output: Yes
Under Printer Features->Print Quality Mode: Best

Now print the resulting PDF file with your usual printer set to 100%.
