Subject: [Homebrew_PCBs] Direct Toner

Stefan,
I think I can cut through some of the confusion re my laser printer: I have taken all the metal out of the path. From the rear we have:
1 - The rear plastic panel.
2 - The rubber roller that press against the drum.
3 - The drum.
That's it. The board goes between 2 and 3. The metal comb that removes the charge from paper has been removed so the board seems to have a VERY strong charge. The toner is MUCH more firmly attached to the copper than to paper - you can't blow it off with you breath.
There are many ways to make this better - create a slight gap between 2 and 3 so that the drum is protected better, put a plastic end cap on the board before sending it through, etc.
Hope this makes it clearer.
Mark
