I find the stripper stored in the back of
my little hand-wrap tool to be fine for
getting off 1mm or so of insulation from
the wire.
The trick is to slide it down the blade
and then once it is at the bottom - spin
the tool around 180 degrees (WRT the wire
axis). Spin more than 180 degrees and
you may compromise the wire.
