If working properly they will register correctly as long as you have the
thing to print exactly centered in the page. Also there is a duplexer you
can find cheap for the LJ 4 and 4 Plus, sits under the printer and you
remove the back cover where a cover for the duplexer replaces the back. The
duplexer is L shaped. You can also set an optional 500 sheet tray under
that. The LJ 4 and 4 Plus also has an envelope feeder option. All can be
found cheap enough. To upgrade memory dig out that old 72 pim ram from those
old 486 era machines.
The fuser on the 4 and 4 Plus are different and non-interchangeable. The
rollers and many other parts are the same including plastics. Both can use
an inexpensive MIO type print server/network card.
I do this for a living and signs are an additional business added in the
last year although I have lots of experience in it since the 70's including
silk screening. Also if anyone ever needs a fuser rebuilt reasonably or
their printer repaired (UPS shippable no bigger) I can repair most brands
and models, inkjet, thermal, impact laser/LED and dye sublimation - assuming
I can get parts, if needed.

Hi Guja,
Let me say that LJet stuff wasn't technically possible
when it appeared (mid 90's)
I used to register double sided for offset duplication
and I couldn't get it.
Trouble is the mechanism of the LJIV, as they weren't
prepared to 'register' precisely on both sides.
That could be work for the models being 'double-side
enabled' then corporate office printers of the mid
90's.
You'll ned to do some manual guide positioning system
for proper alignment.
Hope that helps.
