Well in the few minutes since i sent the email i did a quick test, and get the same results as you, but i do get a lot of toner on the paper, and a few spots, but still its better than my old printer so im happy. I have not etched a board but i believe it will be ok. Also i noted that with different paper settings i get very different results so a bit more testing and i recon this will be fine.
Thanks for the input.
But still, im on the hunt for the perfect paper........

I have an HP Color Laserjet 2550N. The black does TT just fine (down
to about 7mil), but the colors don't. The printer doesn't do a 100%
fill for 100% color, so the coverage is very spotty (especially yellow
- I was trying to do a silk print). I haven't taken the time to
figure out how to ∗get∗ 100% coverage yet, though. I suspect some PCL
magic might do it. Each time I try to do multiple colors to get
black, it doesn't come out as good as just black.
