... in your wife's sewing box!

a pair of wool needles soldered to a common tweezer is stiff and strong. align
the points very carefully. some grinding may be needed.
a long sharp sewing needle stuck backwards into a large toothpick makes
miracles. common pins are not stiff, sharp and long enough.

I also made a sort of weighted tripod with a needle as the third foot for
holding in place those SMD for hand soldering, something like

i_____o________V (shown upside down).

where O is the weight, a couple ounces(half pound?). the two feet V must be
quite spread and heavy to avoid tumbling over. I made them very smooth so they
don't stick on the surface behind the PCB under work. height something more
than the needle used (1.5"), so the needle stays vertical on top of the SMD
under work.
total some 8" or more long.

needles are nice because they are very stiff and almost don't obstruct the
view.
