Hi Chris,
The R220 was the first priter that I ever saw that moved the printhead in
the Z direction. It also lifts the head off the ink pad for printing. This
probably helps keep the ink moist ands prevents clogging the nozzles.
There are a lot mods possible for the ambious mnded pcb maker, that is
someone who has the money, skills, needs and desire to create a dedicated
pcb printer.
I'm working on a KISS machine, with the minimum mods needed..
Since many people use the free version EAGLE with its 3" x 4" limitation,
the CD tray should be more than adequate. If the only mod is to cut out the
center hub in the cd tray and replace the black cartridge with a yellow MIS
Ink cartridge, then a lot more people will be using the technique. There are
stilll many questions to be anwered including the need to use the black
print head instead of the yellow.
