Subject: materials that can be used as etch resist...?

Hi all,
I've been doing the toner transfer, or the presensitized boards, or using the marker method to create boards. I'm looking to experiment at trying something new but...
This may seem like an odd question, but what coatings can be used as an etch resist? Basically, I'm looking for something I can coat the board with and remove where I want to etch. Preferrably something that can be removed easily with the right "stuff" (whether it be chemical or mechanical) but not by the etchant.
I have an experiment I would like to try, but I really don't know what to use to coat the boards with to attempt my experiment.
Thanks in advance!!
-Tony
