My guess, ( the way I calculate it ) would be

1 inch divided by the DPI (Dots Per Inch), then round off

i.e. 1
/ 600
-----------
0.0016666666666666666666666666666667
rounded to 0.002

contrary to what is implied in the term "mil",
1 mil = 0.001 inch

This might not be the way Stefan works his
calculations
