only a set of auto reset chips costs like... lots ($60 at inksupply.com).
It is much cheaper to pull all the normal chips out, solder them together,
and use the PC software the reset the stack from time to time.
Of course it would be even better to put a microcontroller inside the
printer to intercept the signals, if you have the time.
