I joined a little while ago and thought I should post a quick message to introduce myself!
I've recently discovered the joy of Nixie Tubes and have put together a couple of clocks.

first one was on a PCB I purchased over the net, the 2nd was on a sheet of prototype
board, but would much prefer to do my own PCB's.
I don't have a huge background in electronics, but I can follow instructions and don't have
any major issues reading a schematic... Designing stuff from scratch... well... that's where I
come unstuck..... But I'm learning, slowly ;) I don't mind reading. I have a nice big
breadboard and I can weild a soldering iron. Next on my list is to learn how to program
microcontrollers (pic's etc) and to start etching my own boards. I'm going to give the iron-
on method a go, but also like the idea of printing to transparencies and using photo-
sensitive boards.
I've been playing with Eagle, and have a good idea how it works, but still struggle with the
actual layout of the whole project - making it look neat and logical.
I work full-time as an Apple technician in Melbourne, Australia. I am also a volunteer (10
years) with our community TV station as a Floor Manager (but have done most of the jobs
around the studio, including time in front of the cameras). On top of all this, I am also a
qualified firefighter and volunteer with my local fire brigade, with almost two years under

my own beer. I've done three batches so far, and not far from starting my 4th. (I got my
brew kit for christmas! Gotta love Santa!!) I might to a cider, but haven't decided yet.
No questions for now - I'm going to read my way though the archive of messages - as I
would guess that most of the questions I have will have been asked and answered before ;)
