Chris,
I have the HL-2040, and I'm in the experimental phase, as you know
from my prior posts. This doesn't answer your 3 questions, but I
noticed in today's paper that Fry's Electronics here in Atlanta has
the Brother HL-2010 on sale for $47.99, only $30 of which is a mail-in
rebate. They have a disclaimer regarding web prices and other
locations, but you might check Fry's Outpost web site anyway.
Who knows if it uses the same toner and temperature. It's a 1200 x
600, whereas the HL-2040 is 2400 interpolated. This one may be 600 x
600 non-interpolated, like mine, which is good in terms of resolution.
The 2400 has a "Toner Saver" setting, which would not be a feature
of interest for PC boards, but is fine for regular printing.
Caveat emptor.
