Well, I didn't know one could refill his own laser cartridge, so
that's good news!
As to the paper, I did one board using Staples 24 lb. clay-coated
paper, and the image, as seen when the first few layers soaked off,
was perfect, as far as I could tell. Unfortunately, as I soaked and
wiped more, the toner started coming off the board.
Previously I had tried Epson ink jet glossy premium photo paper, and I
got a usable board, although I had to do a lot of retouching with a
black Sharpie (I've since switched to a Lumicolor Red, based on info
from this group, but I haven't etched a board yet that used the
red...probably later today, and I have four of them to do (Press and
Peel Blue, with a LOT of red retouching). The other minor thing with
the glossy paper was that some type of residue from the coating was
left in the tracks, which I had to cleaan out. Also, I must have
actually over-melted the toner, as the tracks looked "squished". That
board, with its heavy retouching with the Sharpie, also etched
unevenly...a lot of copper was etched lower in the Sharpie-repaired
areas. Looks like a dual level board.
I have on my web site a page describing the process I'd previously
used, P snd P Blue with a photocopier, and I have several board photos
there. If anyone's interested, the site is
http://bellsouthpwp.net/w/h/whoopee/ , and the link to the page is
near the bottom of the main page, under "Technical Solutions". If you
follow some of the other links on the page under "Completed Projects",
I show some of the applications I've used the boards for, as the
projects proceeded to completion.
I'm confident that with the assistance from this group, I'll get a
method that works well again. Thanks guys!
Ted
