Starting to consider designing / building my own "Dremel"
Based CNC system and after dissecting a couple of Inkjet
printers and a flatbed scanner I just picked up at the
"GoodWill" store for $ 2.00 (yes two dollars) each,
I was looking for larger stepper motors when I came across
this Motorized Stage at Herbach and Rademan.
If I were to buy one I would consider changng it to a
stepper motor drive.
I thought some of you may be interested in taking a look at it.

If the link dosen't work, it's the first item under
" Miscellaneous Items " on the left hand menu at
http://www.herbach.com/BTW:
If you can get inkjet printerscheap or salvage, they have
nice slide rails with bushings and the scanner I got has
two parallel mounted slide rails (but only one side, the
side closest to the motor, has a bushing) and the stepper
is geared to a cable and drum pull pull transport drive
with an idler pulley at the other end.
Simple, elegant design very interesting.
