It's my understanding that Copper, as a heavy metal,
is very toxic to the microrganisms in household septic
tanks and municipal sewer systems. If you're on a
municipal system, dilution would probably make dumping
down the sink not a serious problem, but if you have a
septic system it could be disastrous.
