It might be cheaper and safer to just buy a new MIDI interface. Well maybe not cheaper. I would shop around first because MIDI kits can be pricey and the poly-61 is not.
As for safer I mean the battery problem. I have two 61's and had to clean up acid and replace the batteries. Only one was salvageable. The other has never functioned correctly due to battery leak damage.
The working one is a 61M model and believe me there is nothing special about that big blue "M". The midi only handles note on,off and maybe the pitch bend but I don't think it does even that. No arp sync,modulation or editing and always in omni mode:(
So that's the low-down for an informed decision. Good luck.
Oh btw, you should do the filter/res control mods if you haven't yet. Its very easy and they rock! Just look up Voice of Saturn.
